While most of our experiments with Harry Styles’ good taste are short-lived (bandanas rarely look good on mere mortals like us), there’s a “Harry recommends” we couldn’t help but grow to love: the musical stylings of the 1975.
The 1975’s eighties-infused synth pop rock is tinged with the perfect amount of edge and melancholy. But it’s their catchy hooks that you won’t let you forget any time soon. Just try getting the line “If you wanna find love you know where the city is” from the song “The City” out of your head. Can’t do it? Yeah, that’s how we got hooked too.
ANDPOP’s Caity Babcock caught up with The 1975’s frontman Matt Healy during the band’s last visit to Vancouver. For this episode of #NoFilter, she and Matt go through some of the band’s more memorable photos, including one risqué crosswalk. He also talks about filming the music video for their latest single “Robbers,” its True Romance influence and what it’s now like to play shows in their hometown.
So what are you waiting for? Watch Matt Healy talk about all that and more in his fancy furry jacket!
The 1975’s self-titled debut album is out now.
