Lately, it feels as if all I can talk about is Macaulay Culkin.
Asides from the requisite Home Alone viewing during Christmas time, the former nineties child star hasn’t been wholly relevant these days. Aside from that video of him eating pizza à la Andy Warhol, he’s far from making headlines (which is probably fine by him).
He will, however, pay Toronto a visit next month when his Velvet Underground cover band, The Pizza Underground (hence the pizza eating video), does a show for the NXNE festival — leading us back to my recent obsession.
It finally looks like the rest of the world is catching up to me but it’s not because there’s a chance they’d get free pizza when they go see the Pizza Underground perform. Everyone is actually in a tizzy over this photo of the 90s icon, Macaulay Culkin, wearing a t-shirt of current male icon, Ryan Gosling who’s wearing a shirt of Macaulay Culkin.

And here’s the photo of Ryan Gosling wearing his Macaulay shirt:
(We know: Ryan Gosling is very dreamy and he hasn’t been around lately. We all miss him.)
It’s all very meta: our former crush wearing a shirt with our current crush wearing a shirt with him on it. It’s like time has collapsed onto itself to create this bridge between the past and the present.
What? That doesn’t make sense? Yeah, I know. I’m no time expert but I do know a lot about pizza, Macaulay Culkin, and Ryan Gosling, so let’s just label me an expert on this and leave it at that. I also know I would wear a shirt of Macaulay Culkin wearing a shirt of Ryan Gosling wearing a shirt of nineties Macaulay Culkin to a Pizza Underground show. It’s the ultimate pop culture mindfuck I would gladly take part in. Let’s make it happen.
