Hits and Misses: Avril Lavigne and Olivia Wilde

In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Avril Lavigne produces the worst music video known to man and lots of famous women give birth to more adorable babies.

MISS: Lorde Cancels Her Australian Tour

The “Royals” singer has postponed her Australian tour because of a nasty chest infection. The New Zealand-native credits her bad health thanks to her non-stop schedule. “Time to get back to full gollum girl fitness before I go out playing shows again,” she tweeted. “I’m truly sorry if i [sic] let you down or if you feel inconvenienced by this and i [sic] hope you can understand.” Feel better, Lorde!

HIT: Lupita Nyong’o is People Magazine’s “Most Beautiful People” cover girl

As the queen of this year’s award show season, it’s no wonder why actress Lupita Nyong’o is the gossip mag’s most beautiful people. Her stunning performance in 12 Years A Slave coupled with her touching best supporting actress acceptance speech at the Oscars are just two of the reasons from the very long list as to why she’s one of our favourite people ever.

MISS: Avril Lavigne’s IQ-melting “Hello Kitty” music video

Co-written by her Nickelback frontman of a husband Chad Kroeger, the song includes lyrics like, “Mom’s not home tonight / So we can roll around, have a pillow fight / Like a major rager OMFG.” It’s like she’s forgotten that she’s a 29-year-old woman. The bottom line is she’s ten years too late, Gwen Stefani did it better and yes, like Gwen, it is mildly racist. To be fair, the shitty quality of the video is more offensive than her using Japanese culture as a prop for her crap song.

Her Twitter response: RACIST??? LOLOLOL!!! I love Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan.

Hmm… Are we sure this isn’t an SNL J-Pop America Funtime Now skit?
