He might be pop culture’s biggest bandwagon fan but there is one team Drake has to like (contractually, at least): his hometown basketball team, the Toronto Raptors.
The rapper was even spotted lint rolling his pants as he was perched right beside the action at last night’s playoff game between the Raptors and the Brooklyn Nets in Toronto.
Because nothing says “here I am supporting my team” like a lint roller.
As the Raptors’ “global ambassador,” Drake has added a little bit of flair to the basketball team’s home venue, The Air Canada Centre, over the last season. His responsibilities includes hosting a Drake Night during a home game and starting a special OVO (the name of Drake’s clothing brand and record label) section where fans receive and wear an OVO-branded black and gold shirt. His role in the team also means that the rapper will be court side for every hometown playoff game.
Drake tried to make a stab at former Nets owner, Jay Z, at last Saturday’s first playoff game. He mused to TSN that the New York City rapper was probably “somewhere eating a fondue plate.”
So what will the rapper do at the next home game? We’ll have to wait and see when the Raptors and Nets return to Toronto for Game 5 on Wednesday April 30.
