It’s been nine years since Jersey Boys hit Broadway and swept the Tony Awards. So banking off on the success of the play, it would make sense to have a movie about it, right?
The first trailer the the film adaptation of the Broadway hit is finally out. Directed by Clint Eastwood, the musical will document the rise and fall of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
Reprising the role will be John Lloyd Young, who won a Tony for his portrayal of Valli in the original Broadway cast. Supporting him will be Christopher Walken as Gyp DeCarlo, a 1960s mob boss and up-and coming actor Vincent Piazza, who plays one of Valli’s bandmates.
Personally, I wouldn’t expect Clint Eastwood to direct a Broadway musical. But judging from the fights, accents and mob bosses present in the trailer, I can definitely see why he decided to back this project.
Jersey Boys opens June 20.
