If the first trailer for The Giver had you a little peeved about how faithful the movie was going to be to the book, then perhaps this featurette will help change your mind.
Considering that many fans complained about the movie being in colour (the concept of colour is supposed to be gone in the novel’s utopian world), this new look at the movie seems a bit more promising.
In a behind-the-scenes look at the film, this featurette shows fans a look of how it was shot with black and white scenes added to the mix. Author Lois Lowry also makes an appearance to provide some insight on her 1993 novel.
However, it is a bit confusing as some of the same clips that appeared in colour in the trailer are now presented in black and white. Was this a way to give fans more faith in the movie? Because even if the movie wasn’t originally intended to be this way, it’s not too late to change it now
The Giver opens August 15.
