As Beyoncé once sang, “Who run the world? Girls.
And it’s true, especially in the case of the upcoming Boy Meets World reboot, Girl Meets World.
Everyone’s favourite television OTP, Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence (returning stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel), are officially back and with some new family members in tow. But instead watching them raise a family in New York City, fans will be following their daughter Riley’s (Rowan Blanchard) growing pains.
In our first look at the reboot, Riley and her friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), a.k.a. the Shawn Hunter to her Cory Matthews, try to sneak out of Riley’s room through the window and down the fire escape. Little did they know that Riley’s dad, good ol’ Cory, made the same daring move before and catches them in the act.
“How long do I have to live in my father’s world?” Riley asks.
“I’m telling you: make it yours,” Cory responds in a sly nod to the passing of the torch.
And just like his parents, Amy and Allen, he and Topanga promise to be there for Riley as she and Maya go through the epic highs and lows of growing up.
If that wasn’t enough to get you excited over this reboot, GMW has some epic cameos on the way.
Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong), and Amy and Allen Matthews (Betsy Randle and William Russ) will appear in the special holiday episode, according to E!. Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) will briefly return to the BMW-verse in the show’s pilot episode.
The brainy know-it-all and Topanga’s scholastic rival, Minkus ( Lee Norris a.k.a. Mouse on One Tree Hill) is also slated for a cameo.
Girl Meets World is scheduled to debut this summer on the Disney Channel. Will you be watching?
