Ed Sheeran is literally an angel and be warned that this story will probably make you cry.
The singer-songwriter granted 15-year-old Triona Priestley’s final wish when he sang “Little Bird” to her over the phone earlier this week. She then passed away just moments after the private performance.
Triona had been struggling with her life-long battle against cystic fibrosis. It was the dying teen’s dream to have the + singer sing “Little Bird” to her, and her friends were determined to make that dream come true. With the hashtag #SongForTri, they started a campaign over Twitter in order to get Ed’s attention.
It worked and Ed’s manager emailed Tri’s friend, Lucy Hanlon, to arrange a phone call between Ed and Triona, according to the Daily Mail.
Halon revealed on Facebook that Ed called Triona on Tuesday and sang “Little Bird” while she was surrounded by family and friends. Triona fell asleep listening to her idol singing and died shortly after.
Ed shared his condolences over Twitter on the same day.
Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x
