As an admirer of British pop culture, ANDPOP’s Rebecca Mattina jumped at the opportunity to live in the United Kingdom for five months. While there, she’ll be writing about all the amazing things we’re missing out on across the pond.

Everyone loves to laugh and James Corden makes that easy. He’s a man of many talents; actor, TV host, writer, and producer. He could very well be one of the most lovable celebrities in the U.K., and he’s been making everyone on this side of the pond laugh for years. Lucky for us, he’s beginning to make his presence known in North America.

You may recognize him from his five-time hosting gig at the Brit Awards; clearly a testament to his popularity. Or maybe from his guest spots in Doctor Who a couple years back. He’s also got some famous friends you may have seen him with: Harry Styles, Matt Smith, Taylor Swift, just to name a few.

His talents also go beyond comedy. He’s a fantastic dramatic actor. Corden won a best actor Tony Award in 2012 for his role in the play One Man, Two Guvnors. Last year he starred in One Chance, the true story about Britain’s Got Talent’s Paul Potts. The film premiered at TIFF in September to great reviews that I can stand behind. The film has multiple release dates scheduled for North America, but there are “online resources” you can look into if you can’t wait that long.

James was also the co-creator and one of the stars of Gavin and Stacey, a popular U.K. sitcom that took home numerous awards in its three seasons run. If you subscribe to Hulu, you can catch him as a co-creator and one of the main characters in The Wrong Mans. This comedy-thriller debuted last year with six episodes to more promising reviews, as James starts making his mark in American TV and film.

If you find yourself browsing YouTube, check out A League of Their Own, the sports-based comedy show James hosts, along with a panel of his famous friends.

He can sing too. His performance with singer Gary Barlow last year is one to remember. Keep an eye out for those dance moves.

All in all his genuine charisma translates in every project he does. I love watching everything he’s a part of because I know it will instantly make me laugh and smile. Besides, everyone needs some comic relief now and again.

For fans who are already acquainted with this British actor, you can look out for James alongside Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick in Into The Woods (out Christmas Day) and the movie adaptation of Kill Your Friends by John Niven.
