You may not recognize Nasri Atweh’s name just yet but there’s no doubt you’ve heard his work.
The Toronto-bred singer-songwriter has had his fill of the airwaves by helping Justin Bieber write and produce hits like “Believe,” “As Long As You Love Me,” “Mistletoe,” and “Never Say Never” — and that’s not all. Nasri has also penned songs for the likes of Cody Simpson (“On My Mind”), Chris Brown (“Next To You” featuring Justin Bieber), and Big Time Rush (“The Vision of Love”). So it was only a matter of time before Nasri pulled a Kanye West and started to write chart-worthy material for himself. With his reggae-pop band Magic!, they seem to be right on track with their catchy first single, “Rude.”
Already big in Australia, New Zealand and Canada, ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos caught up with this up-and-coming group during breakfast at Toronto’s Lakeview Diner. While all cozy in a booth, he gets MAGIC!’s Nasri, Mark Pelli, Alex Tanas and Ben Spivak to spill on the stories behind their Instagram photos. They talk working with Justin Bieber, getting married in the garage and moving to Los Angeles.
So make sure to smack that play button to hear MAGIC! talk about that and more in this episode of #NoFilter.
