Here are just some lovey-dovey and dance party-worthy tunes Evan Ross has been listening to this week!
“A Song About” Love by Jake Bugg
I spent Valentine’s Day spaced out on painkillers from my LASIK surgery so naturally I spent the day listening to weepy love songs. I don’t know what it is about pain meds but emotions just feel so much more real when you’re taking them. I was not originally a fan of Mr. Bugg, but he grew on me with the release of his second album Shangri La, and Jake seems like a nice guy despite his inability to crack a smile. This song is my favourite off the new album, and the video is absolutely gorgeous. Fans of Paris and fall outerwear rejoice.
“Timber” by Ke$ha
I put the original song on MP a few months back and really liked it, but this non-Pitbull version is even better than its predecessor. Some wonderful internet person mixed the chorus from Timber with the verses from “Shots on the Hood of my Car” and it’s magical. Sometimes I really forget that Ke$ha really is a talented singer and not just an autotune machines and this song helped me to remember that.
“Fancy” by Iggy Azalea ft. Charli XCX
It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for Iggy Azalea to release her debut album, but this single helps to ease the pain. The production on this song is awesome and Iggy goes hard on her verses (I fangirled when she references one of her older songs — I love “Murda Business”). This is definitely my favourite of her singles since “Work.” The single’s out on April 6th, but you can preorder it now on iTunes.
“Fall In Love” by Phantogram
I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m really into synth pop for the spring (which hopefully decides to arrive soon) and I just fell in love (I’m so sorry) with this Phantogram record.
