Jimmy Fallon & Will Smith Do The Robot & Other Classic Dance Moves For Fallon’s First Tonight Show

Will Smith and Jimmy Fallon dust off their best 90’s outfits in honour of Fallon’s first ever episode asĀ The Tonight Show’s host. In their dope overalls with one strap undone, they trace the evolution of hip-hop dancing as a way to help Fallon calm his jittery nerves.

From The “MC Hammer” to The “Crank That (Soulja Boy)” Smith and Fallon showed off some classic hip-hop dance moves then made their way to dancing some more modern steps. The pair even “Dougied” and “Twerked” in the spotlight at centre stage.

“The Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing” is just the latest gig in Fallon’s “Dance Evolution” series. While he was still on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, he and friend Justin Timberlake performed “The Evolution of End Zone Dancing” last September. Before that, The First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, and Fallon went through the “Evolution of Mom Dancing” to encourage parents and kids to get up and get active. AND BEFORE THAT, there was “The Evolution of Dad Dancing” in honour of Father’s Day in 2012.

Jimmy Fallon took over The Tonight Show last night after Jay Leno stepped down on Feb. 6 after almost a 22-year run. The show is back with a new look, a new host and a new city — moving back to New York from California.

Fallon’s first night also featured a melody of surprise guests such as Robert DeNiro, Tina Fey, Lady Gaga, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lindsay Lohan, Mike Tyson and Stephen Colbert among others, who all bet Fallon $100 he would never be the host of The Tonight Show. By the time all of Fallon’s friends had paid up, he racked up $1,400 – some of it even in pennies.

The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at midnight with his former dance partners back this week as special guests.
