The Originals go to Sochi

The Originals goes Olympic

Rebekah and Klaus were taken hostage last week, and now we won’t know what happens to our beloved Originals until the Olympics are over.

That started this gal wondering about what Olympic sport would our New Orleaneans take part in. This may be hard to believe, but Klaus Mikaelson would be a figure skater. He’s swift, and quick on his feet. Let’s face it, he’s also kind of a sore loser (*cough* Ashley Wagner).

Ashley Wagner's Olympic reaction

I’m quite certain Rebekah would take home a medal for ski jumping. The blonde beauty is tough, but she lets herself get taken for a ride every time. She’d furiously go down the take-off ramp, jump and attempt to impress potential suitors, just like that handsome werewolf who flirted his way into letting her guard down last week.

Olympic Ski Jump

There’s no doubt Hayley would wow in Sochi when it comes to snowboarding. The agile mom-to-be would descend a slope with ease and grace. The sport inspired by skateboarding, sledding, surfing and skiing is a winning combination for our orphaned wolf who is pregnant with an Originals hybrid baby; a complicated sport for a complicated character.

Snowboarding fail

Elijah would be a master hockey player, either a defender, or goalie (to be more precise). Ya know cause he’s always protecting his family from offenders? Plus, he’s so suave and level-headed, he’d have no problem carrying the weight of a team on those broad shoulders.

hockey fail

Marcel would be the leader of a curling squad–he’s cool, calm and collected as he calculates his next move. He might also be a biathlete, mostly because I’ve just learned what a biathlon is. In case you didn’t know, it’s an actual sport that combines cross country skiing and, get this: rifles. Strategy and military style shooting? Sounds like our fearless king of the French Quarter.

The Originals returns with all-new episodes Tuesday, February 25th at 8PM only on CHCH followed by Supernatural at 9PM.

Full disclosure: ANDPOP and CHCH are owned by Channel Zero.

Since this was the first post-Rebekah episode, it made sense to me that it would be more of a transitionary episode, and it was. Lots of table-setting here, and I think it’s for the good that they change things up so boldly to help keep this show from getting stale like The Vampire Diaries did.

On a side note, I also loved this episode’s music, especially when they used Son Lux and Lorde’s collaboration “Easy (Switch Screens)” (during during Elijah’s party when the fight between the Vampires and Werewolves breaks out) and “Line of Fire” by Junip (when the peace accord is signed between the werewolves, vampires, witches and humans.)
