J.K. Rowling Says Hermione Didn’t Belong With Ron

Potterheads got another bomb dropped on them as author J.K. Rowling revealed that she has second thoughts over paring Ron and Hermione together at the end of the Harry Potter series.

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment. That’s how it was conceived, really,” the author said. “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Rowling revealed this startling point to Harry Potter actress Emma Watson during an interview for Wonderland magazine’s current issue, which Watson acted as a guest-editor. An excerpt of the interview appeared in the Sunday Times over the weekend.

Rowling also said she believe Ron and Hermione would’ve needed relationship counselling: “I know, I’m sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that.”

What do you think? Does Hermione belong with Ron or Harry? Or do you think J.K. Rowling is over-stepping her role as the author?
