While the actual football game may not be as good, the ads that run during the Super Bowl have become an event in and of themselves with many viewers tuning in just to see the ads. And with millions of dollars spent on getting a thirty-second spot, the commercials better be good.

Some were hits while other commercials were nothing special. Here are my top picks of the American commercials from last night’s show.

“Puppy Love”

It may be a little difficult to see the direct connection between puppies and beer but Budweiser’s “Puppy Love” commercial which aired at the end of the Super Bowl was 100 percent adorable if nothing else.

“A Hero’s Welcome”

Budweiser hit the mark this year with one of the best commercials of the night. This touching commercial about a soldier returning from duty oozes with patriotism — which is what you expect from the biggest American media spectacle.

“Dad’s Sixth Sense”

Hyundai takes safety seriously and aims for the family in their commercial showing that their new car can stop itself from crashing.

“Cowboy Kid”

It’s all about cowboys and robbers as this little boy tries to steal a bad of Doritos from his older brother. The best part, in my opinion, is the sassy remark from the boy when the kids are asked if they can help bring in the groceries.

“Empowering Us All”

Microsoft shows what technology can do to enhance the life of those with disabilities with this commercial. It’s amazing to see that what many of us take for granted is a gift to others.

“It’s Beautiful”

One of the biggest sponsors of the event put out one of the most talked about commercials. Coca-Cola’s “It’s Beautiful” shows the multiculturalism of America with people across the country drinking coke, enjoying life and all singing the same song in different languages.

“The Spill”

Nineties TV show reunions were one of the big anticipations for this year’s Super Bowl ads. Oikos Greek yogurt brought together John Stamos, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier. For weeks the men of Full House had teased about the commercial spot leading up to the big game. Bringing out his inner Danny Tanner, Saget wants to clean Stamos’s pants when he drops yogurt on them.

That wasn’t the only reunion as Jerry Seinfeld and Jason Alexander reenacted a diner scene similar to one that would have been seen on Seinfeld.

“America’s Favourite Nut”

It doesn’t matter when or where M&M commercials play, they are always fun and entertaining.

David Beckham’s H&M Ad

And finally, from literal candy to “eye candy.” This H&M ad with David Beckham is a treat for the ladies during the four hour testosterone fest.
