After a tumultuous 2013, Amanda Bynes is finally getting her life back on track and has decided to go back to school.
The She’s the Man actress started part-time classes at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Orange County, California last week.
According to E! News’ sources, “she was very nice, friendly and chatting with her classmates.”
It appears that working in the fashion industry has always been an interest of Bynes’. The star told People magazine that she wanted to start a clothing line back in 2012. Though no longer pursuing a fashion design major as she had been planning to (she’s now majoring in merchandise product development), this is her first step into the fashion industry.
She isn’t the first star to attend FIDM. Lauren Conrad from The Hills and Nick Verreos from Project Runway are also alumni of the Institute.
Bynes went off the rails last year when she called various stars disrespectful names and acted out in public (she was charged with a DUI and she threw a bong out the window of her Manhattan apartment). The former actress was admitted into rehab at The Canyon in Malibu for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia last September.
I’ve always been a fan of Amanda since her days on Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show. It’s nice to see her getting her life back on track and spending time with her family. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll all be wearing Amanda Bynes approved clothing (a frightening or exciting thought? I’m not sure).
