It’s time for the Glee cast to say goodbye to Lima, Ohio and hello to New York City as the rest of season five will be film exclusively in Big Apple.
Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed the news during his executive session at the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Monday. He did not, however, reveal which of t he cast will be making the move to New York City when the series returns from hiatus in February.
“Some are going to be graduating and moving; creatively, it would be ridiculous that everybody moves to New York,” he said. “There will be some that will graduate and move on and they’ll arc back in when we do special episodes. They’ll always be a part of it. The way it’s going to dovetail next season, we’ll see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity. But for this season, there will be a graduation, several of the castmembers will move on and a few others will go to New York.”
The Hollywood Reporter speculates principal Sue Sylvester (played by Jane Lynch) will be making the move, as well as music teacher Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison). “As long as there’s a show, there’s Jane,” Reilly said. “We’re not going to be in Ohio anymore the rest of this season.”
The chairman also confirmed that the upcoming sixth season will be the hit show’s last.
As of right now, Gleeks will be able to look forward to seeing some new and old faces this season. Gossip Girl alum Chace Crawford will start a guest-starring episode arc in the show’s 100th episode as Quinn Fabray’s (Dianna Agron) love interest. The episode’s director, Paris Barclay, tweeted a photo from the set on Monday:
