Lea Michele is absolutely glowing in her new music video for “Cannonball,” which premiered Thursday night on Vevo.
The single, which was released in December, is a powerful song about getting back to living life after experiencing a tragedy. It appears to be an incredibly personal song as she had to face the same challenges after her boyfriend and Glee co-star, Cory Monteith, died last summer.
The video is a perfect representation of the track itself. It begins by showing a dark house with broken objects and Michele hiding in the shadows, away from the minimal lighting seeping into the house. From the dark dress and setting at the start, the change is evident in Michele by the end of the video when she is wearing white and dancing around coloured lights showing that she “will start living today”.
If the song and video itself don’t have you crying, seeing Michele tearing up at the beginning of the video just might break you down.
“Cannonball” has become an anthem for many people, including Michele:

Overall the video grabs at your attention with its emotional nature. Though simple, the content makes perfect sense to the theme of the song.
But don’t just take our word for it, watch for yourself.
