Since Will Ferrell never ages (physically and mentally), we bet you didn’t realize that Elf is already 11 years old! Where does the time go?

Elf is a feel-good comedy that stars Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf. Buddy is raised in the North Pole and lives his life as a typical elf, making toys and whatnot. After he sneaks into Santa’s toy bag as a baby orphan, he is put under the care of an older elf who doesn’t have his own children. However, after realizing that he doesn’t fit in with the other elves (he’s a giant in comparison), he journeys to New York City to find his birth father. Along the way, he gets a job, meets a pretty girl and a lot of people who don’t believe in the Christmas spirit. It’s honestly a must-watch for the holidays!

We’ve seen Will in countless comedies since the release of Elf, but what happened to the rest of the cast of this hilarious Christmas movie? Find out below!

Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf

Will’s name is everywhere again thanks to the recent release of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. If you forget where else you’ve seen Will, it’s probably because he’s done so much that you find it hard to believe he was in alllllll those movies. From 1995-2006, he was on the hilarious comedy sketch series Saturday Night Live and played dozens of funny characters! He was Ricky Bobby in 2006′s Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, the sensational ice skater Chazz Michael Michaels (middle) in 2007′s Blades of Glory and the childish adult Brennan Huff in 2008′s Step Brothers. It’s impossible to ever get enough of Will Ferrell, he’s hilarious!

James Caan as Walter (Buddy’s biological dad)

James also voiced Sonny Corleone for The Godfather video games between 2006 and 2007. He then went on to play the President in Get Smart, as well as Father McNally (middle) in Adam Sandler’s That’s My Boy. Currently, he can be seen on the new TV series Back in the Game, where he plays a former baseball player (right).

Bob Newhart as Papa Elf (Buddy’s North Pole dad)

Bob usually plays smaller roles, but his face is so memorable that when I tell you what he’s been in, you’ll remember it so well! In 2003, he also played the role is Sid Post (middle)  in Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde and you may remember him more recently playing Arthur Jeffries (right) in The Big Bang Theory.

Edward Asner as Santa

What a perfect Santa for this movie! Edward is such a class act and since Elf, he has also played another famous role that is so dear to all our hearts! He was the voice of Carl Fredricksen (right) from Up! He’s also done a ton of TV movies, as well as guest appearances on TV shows like Hawaii Five-O, Hot in Cleveland and The Middle.

Mary Steenburgen as Emily (Buddy’s step-mom)

From 2003-2005, Mary played the role of Helen Giraldi on Joan of Arcadia. She also played Will Ferrell’s mom in another movie – she was Nancy Huff in Step Brothers. She was also the sweetest mom, Grace Paxton (middle), to Ryan Reynolds’ character in The Proposal. Most recently she had a role in 2013′s Last Vegas as Diana (right)!

Zooey Deschanel as Jovie

I can totally understand if you didn’t realize Zooey was in this movie, she was a blonde back then! Everyone knows that we can currently catch her being the awkward Jessica Day (right) on TV’s hit series New Girl. In between Elf and New Girl, she was also pretty awkward as Sarah Jessica Parker’s friend Kit (middle) in Failure to Launch and Summer in (500) Days of Summer.

Daniel Tay as Michael (Buddy’s half-brother)

The now 22-year-old hasn’t done a whole lot in acting, but Daniel was the voice of Doogal (right) in Doogal, as well as playing Young Bobby in Brooklyn Rules.

Peter Dinklage as Miles Finch

Peter is currently well-known for his role as Tyrion Lannister (right) in the major hit TV series Game of Thrones. Before the show, he could be seen as Trumpkin (middle) in 2008′s The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

I’ll just leave you with my favourite part from this movie, including Buddy’s reaction to Santa coming to the department store Gimbel’s!
