2013 has been a big year for newsmakers. From world events to births and deaths, Google has all the year’s most searched terms in their annual Zeitgeist video.

Coming up in the top spot is the tragic death of Fast and Furious star Paul Walker who passed away in a car accident last month. It was followed by the marathon bombings in Boston, the deaths of Nelson Mandela and Glee star Cory Monteith. The release of the iPhone 5s rounding up the top five trending searches of the year.

Asides from the many goodbyes we had to say this year, there were a couple of lighter topics that brought us around the water cooler. Thanks to Miley Cyrus’s famous twerking performance at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, “What is twerking? ” was Google’s most popular “What is…” search of the year.
