It’s all frat parties and classes for Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill as they graduate from high school to college in the official red band trailer for 22 Jump Street. Reprising their roles as Jenko and Schmidt, the world’s worst undercover cops now have to tap a collegiate drug ring.
So far, the story line for the sequel is strikingly similar to the first except we’re more or less back to the status quo where Jenko (Tatum) is the popular one and Schmidt (Hill) is not.
Honestly, the first 30 seconds of the two and a half minute trailer sounds like a thinly veiled criticism of their first movie (“Ladies, nobody gave a shit about the Jump Street reboot but you got lucky.”) and what the studio decided to do after its success (“So now this department has invested a lot of money to make sure Jump Street keeps going.”). So will it live up to the hype? Or will Jump Street surprise us once again?
I guess we’ll only know when 22 Jump Street hits theatres next summer.
