Beyoncé caught her fans by surprise as she unexpectedly released her fifth studio album Thursday night. Already available exclusively online, the singer teased her latest offering on the internet with excerpts from the “visual” album.
The self-titled record is already breaking barriers as it includes 14 songs and 17 music videos, one for each track and three separate videos.
“I wanted people to hear the songs with the story that are in my head because it’s what makes it mine,” she said in the teaser video. “That visual in my brain is what I wanted people to experience for the first time.”
“I feel like right now people experience music differently,” she added. “I remember seeing thriller on TV with my family. It was an event. We all sat around the TV and I’m now looking back, [I realize] I was so lucky I was born around that time. I miss that immersive experience.”
Beyoncé has recruited only the very best to collaborate with her on this album. Asides from her rapper husband Jay Z and her almost two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy (!!), Frank Ocean and Toronto’s Drake also makes an appearance on Beyoncé.
