Winning a singing competition show isn’t the only way to jump start a music career. Just ask Tori Kelly who found other ways for her voice to reach thousands of ears.

The former reality show vet (she appeared on America’s Most Talented Kids and American Idol) won herself a small legion of fans thanks to her many YouTube covers. With a voice and intuition like hers, it shouldn’t be a surprise that the soon-to-be 21-year-old (her birthday is on December 14!) is also a songwriter. British boy band The Wanted even covered her song “Fill A Heart” during a performance on Dancing With The Stars. In fact, ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos might have Tori’s “Dear No One” on repeat right now thanks to a recent change in his Facebook relationship status.

Appropriately enough, Simon got Tori to talk about the meaning behind the track during the singer’s visit to Toronto. She also opens up and talks about how she fell into the YouTube cover game and putting together her latest EP, Foreword.

There’s that and more in this episode of Small Talk with Tori Kelly!

Tori Kelly’s latest EP Foreword is out now! Buy it on iTunes HERE.
