Where Are They Now? The Cast of Home Alone

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, and it’s not even because of the snow. I don’t know about you, but Home Alone is my all-time favourite Christmas movie! It doesn’t even have to be Christmas, or remotely close to the holiday season for me to get excited about watching this movie, BUT when it’s on TV, it means Christmas is just around the corner and Kevin is up his famous antics and booby traps again!

Of course, Home Alone doesn’t really need an explanation, but I’ll give a brief one for anyone living under a rock since 1990. An 8-year-old boy, Kevin, is left home alone when his parents and siblings accidentally forget him in all the hustle and bustle of leaving to go to France for the holidays. Unfortunately, Kevin’s house is the target for a burglary and he must defend his home using pranks and booby traps.

We know most of the cast went on to do Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992, but where are the old people now?

Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister

Macaulay was totally a child star, how could he not be after this huge movie? He was also in the big blockbusters Richie Rich and My Girl. After that, he wasn’t seen acting in much, but he did voice a character in Robot Chicken from 2005-2010. Just because he wasn’t a famous actor later on, doesn’t mean he was out of the spotlight. In 2004, he was arrested for possession of marijuana. Between 2002 and 2010, he was dating Mila Kunis, he totally let Ashton Kutcher have her.

Devin Ratray as Buzz McCallister (Kevin’s brother)

Devin Ratray

Since Home Alone, Devin’s been pretty active in the acting world, taking a few small roles here and there, but playing Kevin’s bullying brother Buzz is pretty much what he’s known for. He has done appearances on Law & Order and The Good Wife, and also had roles in the movies Side Effects and R.I.P.D.

Catherine O’Hara as Kate McCallister (Kevin’s mom)

First and foremost, she’s Canadian. She’s been acting and doing comedy for awhile now. She has appeared on TV shows like Six Feet Under and Curb Your Enthusiasm and she’s been in several movies like Penelope, Away We Go and The Right Kind of Wrong. She also has two sons, who are 16 and 19. Catherine was inducted in Canada’s Walk of Fame in June 2007.

John Heard as Peter McCallister (Kevin’s dad)

He has done several things every single year since the 1970s and it doesn’t seem like he’s stopping anytime soon. He guest starred on Entourage and Prison Break and played small roles in White Chicks and The Lucky Ones. According to IMDB, he’s got 5 movie roles lined up for 2014! Most recently, he can be seen in the TV movie Sharknado.

Joe Pesci as Harry Lime

He was half of the evil villain team, but still hilarious. Well, since 1990, Joe Pesci doesn’t have as long of a list as John Heard, however, when Joe is in a movie, it’s pretty much a sure hit. He was in Goodfellas, Casino and the Lethal Weapon series. In 1999, he retired from acting, but has popped up in a couple places.

Daniel Stern as Marv Merchants

Daniel, like John Heard, has been pretty active in the industry. He voiced Dilbert in the TV series Dilbert. He was also in Whip it and next year he will be in the TV movie Girlfriend in a Coma. When he’s not acting and directing, bet you didn’t know that Daniel specializes in bronze sculptures.
