If next May means we’ll get to see Andrew Garfield don that tight Spider-Man outfit again, bring it on.
The British actor reprises his role as the web-slinging superhero once again for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This time around, Spider-Man’s alter-ego Peter Parker uncovers the secret behind his parents’ disappearance and battles new enemies, including a very blue Jamie Foxx as Electro.
Also returning to the superhero franchise are Emma Stone as Peter’s love interest, Gwen Stacy, and Sally Field as Aunt May. They’ll be joined by many new faces including Paul Giamatti as the Rhino and Dane DeHaan as Peter’s frenemy, Harry Osborne.
Notably absent from this sequel is current YA book-to-movie star Shailene Woodley, who was supposed to appear as Peter’s other love interest, Mary Jane. Unfortunately, her part fell to the cutting room floor as, according to Woodley, it “doesn’t make much sense in the end.” Not a problem. Fans of the young actress can catch her in two huge book adaptations, Veronica Roth’s Divergent and John Green’s The Fault In Our Stars.
As for Spidey fans, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 lands in theatres in May.
