While many of the details of tonight’s episode of Glee have not been revealed, we’ve seen the promo and one thing is certain, it is sure to draw tears.
We’re not only feeling sad for Rachel Berry, Finn’s longtime girlfriend on Glee, but also for the real-life actress who plays Rachel, Lea Michele, who was also Cory Monteith’s off-screen girlfriend. Her on-screen tears are real and the tragedy of Cory’s death left family, friends and fans of the show in shock and grief.
Glee creator Ryan Murphy previously said that the episode was difficult to shoot for the entire cast, but he did add that drugs will not be the cause of Finn’s death.
In an interview with Australia’s TV Week, Lea discussed the emotional time and also gave a bit of insight into tonight’s episode.
She said, “One day I came home and Cory was there with this plaque from the set that we always had in the glee club and I said, ‘What’s this doing here?’ and he said, ‘I took it!’ He said, ‘This summer we are going to take it all over everywhere we go and take pictures of us with this plaque!’ and that’s what we did! Then I got the script and thought it was so unbelievable that they chose to do that in the episode. So, for me, there are a lot of little things that are so special, everything means a lot to me.”
While actress Dianna Agron, who played Finn’s ex-girlfriend Quinn Fabray, won’t be in the tribute, many of the stars have taken their place to belt out tunes that will memorialize the young actor.
The final tribute to Cory Monteith and Finn Hudson, perfectly titled “The Quarterback,” will air tonight at 9 p.m. ET. Will you be watching the final goodbye?
