Like most trending topics on Twitter (asides from, you know, real world events), the hashtag #StarbucksDrakeHands makes absolutely no sense at first glance. Alas, it was all for love as this trending topic stems from one poor Starbucks barista’s poor attempts at wooing a pretty model.
Apparently, it all began when Los Angeles-based model Piper Kennedy dropped by a Starbucks for a cup of coffee. While she left with her coffee, Starbucks barista Brody Ryan also managed to get her phone number. How? I guess we’ll never know.
Anyways, the next morning, Brody sent the above clip of his best attempt at being shy(?)/adorable(?)/coy(?) to Piper as a text message. Obviously, a cringe-worthy video like this just had to be shared which she did, with her friend DJ Ben Roc who then shared it with his friends on Instagram. Thus, they all helped created the #StarbucksDrakeHands phenomenon.
Oh, god! It’s so bad! Why do I keep re-watching this?! Why did he pick Drake to be the soundtrack to his biggest embarrassment? It’s like he wanted her to know just how sensitive yet how “in with it” he is.
At least we now have these moments to cherish together:
