Miley Cyrus’ new album Bangerz will officially hit shelves next Tuesday. While we’ve been streaming the album all week, we’ll admit we do miss a bit of her old sound. Don’t get us wrong — we’re all about twerking and swinging-from-a-wrecking-ball Miley. It’s just that we sometimes can’t help but randomly hum her old songs, like “Party In The U.S.A.”
Before the rest of the world gets sucked in Bangerz, we’ve taken the liberty to list our top 10 Miley Cyrus songs (so far). Check it out:
Miley’s cover of Jolene (originally sang by her Godmother Dolly Parton) demonstrates her awesome vocal ability. Although we do love her pop songs, her cover makes me wish that she would come out with a country album. She obviously takes after her father and it would kill it on the charts.
2. Party in The USA
You are probably lying to yourself if you claim to have never put your hands up and nod your head along to this song. This classic Miley song is perfect for belting out, even if you’re not technically partying in the USA like us. Did you know, Miley’s fans actually took the liberty to hold a petition to make this the national anthem? Imagine throwing your hands up instead of standing on guard!
3. Best of Both Worlds
A list of Miley’s best songs would be incomplete if it didn’t include a Hannah Montana song. The theme song that made Miley a house hold name already triggers nostalgic feelings, since Hannah Montana ended only two years ago.
4. Lilac Wine
Also a very underrated and unknown cover, but Miley’s voice is as smooth as butter in this cover. There’s something about this cover that makes me want to melt on the couch. Like we said with her “Jolene” cover, if she ever made a country album, we probably wouldn’t hesitate to buy it.
5. See You Again
She’s just being Miley! Don’t lie, you loved singing along to the catchy chorus. Although it’s not as catchy as her other pop songs, the chorus is what pulls me in, and why it deserves a spot on this list.
6. 7 Things
This pop-punk love song has everything you love. In fact, it was one of the first Miley songs I’ve ever loved. “7 Things” was the perfect track to secretly dedicate to a person that owns your heart. (You know you’ve done it.) Plus, if you were a fan of her relationship with Nick Jonas, this song will trigger a lot of feelings because we all knew deep down that it was dedicated to the youngest brother.
8. The Climb
The soothing ballad that come from Hannah Montana: The Movie is probably one of my favourite songs from Miley. The song represented the struggles of growing up, and never giving up on your dreams. In my opinion, we believe that the songs strongly suits Miley, and it would be weird if anyone else had sang the song. She had grew up in the limelight, so this was her unofficial way of letting everyone know that she’s on a journey to find out who she is.
9. Can’t Be Tamed
This is the music video that clearly divided Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana. Miley sheds the sweet image for a more mature and edgy sound.
10. When I Look At You
HOLD YOUR FEELS. This song is from The Last Song, which Miley starred in with her ex-fiance, Liam Hemsworth. This song is so cute, but due to recent events, is so heart crushing. We were rooting for them!
