The last time we saw Taylor Swift on the big screen it was in the rom com Valentines Day. It looks like the 23-year-old will be taking another go at acting in The Giver, the film adaptation of Lois Lowry’s young adult novel of the same name.
The Giver tells the story of Jonas, a young boy living in a utopian society. Jonas lives in a world where everyone is given a job when they are 12. Jonas is assigned the job of Receiver of Memories, and is trained by the society’s Giver — the man who holds all of the communities memories both good and bad.
Huffington Post reports that rumours of Swift’s involvement in the film began to circulate last week after she was introduced to Brenton Thwaites, one of the films actors.
Katie Holmes and Shameless actor Cameron Monoghan have both nabbed roles in the film. Also starring in the film is acting heavy weights Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges.
The film will be directed by Phillip Noyce and will hit theaters August 2014.
