There is something entertaining about famous families. With their lavish events, massive closets and big pools, it’s hard to not get jealous. However, there is something to be said about observing the on-goings on of a famous family. They make us laugh, smile, and even cry sometimes. What? Life gets emotional for famous people too you know.
There are quite a few shows that follow the lives of A-list celebrities that lets us into their world of money, class (sometimes), high fashion (depending on your opinion on the Kardashian wardrobe), and high end events. Some of these shows are on air, some have long been put to bed, but all of them have entertained and kept us glued to our television sets and couches.
Here are 5 of our favourite family reality shows we love to hate:
For three precious seasons, E! cameras followed rock star Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and their kids Kelly and Jack as they dealt with life in their lavish Southern California home. The show wasn’t all fun and games; the cameras did catch the family during a couple lows including how the family dealt with Sharon’s battle against cancer and Ozzy’s near death experience.
The Kardashians (All Shows)
Including all their reality show incarnations (Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami, Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Khloé and Lamar…), we’ve been Keeping Up With The Kardashians since 2007! We’ve had the opportunity to watch the large Kardashian/Jenner clan through their ups and downs, including Kim’s disastrous marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries. Money can’t buy happiness, right? This guilty pleasure has also spawned numerous gif-able moments that I can’t help but share on Tumblr. It also gave us the every sassy Scott Disick. All hail Lord Disick!
Gene Simmons Family Jewels
This is my personal favourite. I’m not one for reality TV but there was something special about this show that documented the Simmons family. Gene, his hysterical partner Shannon Tweed, cute son Nick (and I mean really, really cute son) and sassy daughter Sophie made for amazing television. The special thing about this song is what they did wasn’t all that scandalous; in fact, they seemed down right normal — just with a slight rock star twist.
House of Carters
Basically, this was an awesome show because Nick Carter is the king of everything, and we will always love Aaron Carter for his stint on Lizzie McGuire. Definitely a family worth watching. Plus, their house was insane, and we were jealous. It’s a shame the series only lasted one season.
The Simple Life
Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were practically sisters when this show aired — until they had a major falling out, that is. This show basically raised “white people problems” to a whole new level. Watching these privileged girls do normal people things was priceless. Even though the duo looked like they were struggling, they took obstacles on like champions with a couple of trademark-able slogans along the way (“That’s hot!”).
