J.K. Rowling has cut yet another multi-film deal with Warner Brothers Studio to bring the Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them to life. This will also mark the author’s first foray into screenwriting.
The film will be the first in a new series and will follow the adventures of Newt Scamander, the author of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
“Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt,” Rowling said in a press release. “As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favourite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them is a textbook from the magical world of Harry Potter and is required reading for young witches and wizards at Hogwarts. Rowling wrote and published a version of the textbook in 2001 with proceeds going to the charity Comic Relief. Not only does it include a wide selection of magical creatures, the book also features little notes and doodles as penned by Harry Potter and his friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
