Word has it that One Direction will “Get Lucky” on their upcoming album, Midnight Memories. It looks like the fivesome have recruited producer Pharrell Williams to pen tracks for the British boy band’s third record.

The superproducer has worked on two of the biggest hits of this summer, Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” making him more or less the artist of the summer. Not afraid to work with different artists, it only makes sense that Pharrell would opt to join forces with the chart-topping British boy band. Just last month, Pharrell tweeted a picture of him in the studio with 1D’s own Liam Payne with the caption, “Chilling in the studio with One Direction’s Liam.”

“It is a no-brainer to get together two of the biggest acts in music right now,” a source told the Mirror. “One Direction want their third album to be their most successful yet and Pharrell is definitely the man to help them achieve this.” Pharrell confirmed the collaboration during British GQ’s Men Of The Year Awards on Tuesday.

“We are definitely talking. From what I’ve heard of their new stuff I’m pleasantly surprised,” he told the Mirror. “Their new stuff is definitely a progression and an elevation. I will hopefully be getting involved as we are definitely in talks. I don’t think some people realize how hard those boys work. There is so much more that goes into One Direction than just the band. They are a brand and are huge. They are incredibly hard-working. I’m sure it will excite our female fans if we’re on a record together.”

X Factor’s own Simon Cowell revealed that he was the one who phoned Pharrell to arrange the collaboration. “I’ve known him for a long, long time and he was saying to me that it’s just unbelievable what’s happening with him. He is absolutely at the top of his game right now. Hopefully we will have a Pharrell track if that works out well,” he said.

If they get Pharrell on board, we might as well start writing One Direction’s Grammy speeches for them.
