There’s no doubt that Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” is one of this summer’s biggest hits. But whether the song’s success stems from the song’s catchy lyrics or the buzz surrounding the music video’s unrated version (where models strut around Thicke, producer Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. topless) is debatable.
The song does, however, mark a new direction for Thicke who, before this summer, flew under the radar as he crooned slow R&B songs such as “Lost Without U” and “Exhale (Shoop Shoop).” The Canadian singer sat down with ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos to talk about the new change in pace, writing “Blurred Lines” with Pharrell Williams and what it takes to make a good pop song.
Robin Thicke’s sixth studio album Blurred Lines is out now!
