Rumours of a ‘N Sync reunion at this Sunday’s VMAs put the Internet in quite a frenzy on Tuesday, but was all that excitement for nothing? We hope not as Lance Bass didn’t exactly put the rumours to rest when he addressed them on his SiriusXM show Dirty Pop With Lance Bass.
Speculation of a reunion began after it was announced that Justin Timberlake would receive the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award at the VMAs. Rumours then went into overdrive as Bass and fellow band mates Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick flew to Miami to see Timberlake’s show with Jay Z in Miami last Friday.
“I think that’s what started the rumour that there’s going to be this big reunion with ‘N Sync,” Bass said. However, he didn’t try very hard to confirm or deny the news. In addition, MTV has yet to address the rumours nor has Timberlake’s reps responded The Hollywood Reporter’s request for a comment.
To us, everyone’s “avoid giving them an answer” tactic makes the reunion that much more likely. If it wasn’t going to happen, we would’ve heard a firm “no” about now.
In any case, Bass sounded like he was quite impressed over the hoopla the rumour caused:
“It’s amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media [and] how many people are supporting ‘N Sync,” said Bass. “It’s so nice to see because when we ended things [over] 10 years ago, there was no social media, there was no Twitter, but it’s so cute to see how many people are supporting [us], and ‘N Sync was even trending.”
