The Time You Have (In Jellybeans)

Posted on June 23, 2013 by

Most young people, myself included, think we have enough time in our lives to do whatever we want, go wherever we want and see whoever we want. But when you take away what’s taken up by unavoidable day-to-day tasks and activities, there really isn’t all that much left.

The concept of time is a hard one to grasp, but one man captured it extremely well using jelly beans. Each jelly bean represents one day of your life, and what seems like a bottomless pile in the beginning dwindles down to what, for most people, is probably a pretty shocking number.

This video was extremely powerful for me. It doesn’t do what a lot of other wanna-be inspirational videos try to do. It doesn’t give you a list of twenty things to do in your twenties, or 1000 things to do before you die, but rather gives you a relatable demonstration of time. Life isn’t about crossing things off a bucket list, but taking what little time you have and doing exactly what it is you love, whether that’s skydiving, travelling the world, or sitting around a table having drinks with your friends.

If you’re looking for inspiration, I suggest you check it out. You have all the time in the world, right?
