With Spring Breakers in theatres, you can’t help to wonder – when did Selena Gomez grow up? It’s only been a year since the Disney star has appeared on Wizard of Waverly Place, but with her career continuing to skyrocket, it’s been a busy one. Then you look at her co-star Vanessa Hudgens who has completely transition herself from sweet Gabriella on High School Musical to her own person, taking on mature roles. Too bad some other Disney stars can’t say the same.
Here’s just a quick and handy chart to show you what life is like after Disney.
Some of these previous Disney stars are kind of self explanatory. Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron have made a name for themselves after their breakthrough roles. Ashley Tisdale hasn’t completely left Disney, having scooped up the voice role of Candace Flynn on everyone’s favourite show, Phineas and Ferb. Unfortunately for her voice co-star, Mitchel Musso (he’s Jeremy) was booted from Disney’s Pair of Kings after he was charged with a DUI. Similarly, Shia LaBeouf, a.k.a.Louis Stevens on Even Stevens, broke free with Transformers and has ran into some trouble with the law every now and then.
Twins Dylan and Cole Sprouse went on to do some higher learning after the Suite Life of Zack and Cody ended. The Jonas Brothers also took a hiatus from their show and music careers as the youngest Jonas, Nick, went off to prove himself on stage. They’re starting to make a come back as they play shows in South America. I can’t wait to hear what they have in store.
Original Disney queens, Hilary Duff and Raven Symone more or less quietly left the Hollywood scene. While Raven made a few guest appearances on television, she is now showing off her skills on Broadway. Hilary, on the other hand, made some notable movies after Lizzie McGuire, such as A Cinderella Story as well as Cheaper By The Dozen. She also guest starred in Gossip Girl, but now has the full time role being a mom and an awesome wife.
Lindsay Lohan … well, we know what happened there. (You know it’s bad when two different mug shots show up in the first row of your Google image search) Mean Girls is really the only reason why she isn’t completely irrelevant. She should thank Tina Fey for that. We all love a good comeback story, so come on Lindsay! Get your act together!
