In last night’s The Carrie Diaries “Hush Hush” episode, keeping secrets was the theme. Maggie was left with anticipation of if and when Donna will expose her secrets to Walt while at the same time, Carrie weaves her web of lies revolving around her life in the city. You know what they say, what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.
Sometimes its hard living two lives and in this episode, Carrie finally gets tangled in her web. Still, Carrie isn’t totally punished. This episode has only good things in store for her and the one and only, Mr. Sebastian Kydd. Looks like life isn’t all bad for Carrie Bradshaw. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for poor Maggie but at least we all know she isn’t the only one in her relationship keeping hefty secrets.
Read the 10 things you missed on last nights episode below
1) Carrie’s alphabet sweater
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice, and I will say it again. The wardrobe on the show is an event in itself. This episode, I fell in love with Carrie’s alphabet sweater. Surprise, it’s from Topshop. I know where I am going my next shopping trip…
2) Sebastian wants Carrie
After much prying by Mouse and Maggie, Sebastian admits that he plans to break up with Donna because he doesn’t want to lead her on. Such a gentleman. He doesn’t want to be with someone else when in his heart, he knows he has feelings for Carrie. With the help of Mouse, Sebastian embarks on a mission to break up with Donna and sweep Carrie off her feet with a big romantic gesture. He drives to Manhattan to surprise Carrie, only to not find her gone and his car towed. Poor guy. However, I do love this ongoing friendship between Sebastian and Mouse.
3) Carrie’s at Interview. Translation? Shoes, shoes, shoes
Carrie has gotten bitchy Barbara to cover for her at the law firm while she interns at Interview where she is having the time of her life. She even gets free shoes — and not just any shoes: Manolo Blahniks. How future Carrie Bradshaw of her. The best part was when Carrie says, “who needs Sebastian when I have these.” This episode has so many Sex and the City references, and I loved every one of them.
4) Carrie goes clubbing
While her father thinks she’s at a school event, Carrie goes to one of the city’s hottest clubs with the Interview staff. She tries to forget about Sebastian and spends most of her night just being herself and letting loose. That is, until her father shows up and finds out she’s been lying to him and that she quit the law firm. Oops.
5) Carrie tries a cosmo for the first time
This episode brought us an epic Sex and the City reference, and it made me squeal with excitement. At the club, Carrie tries her very first cosmopolitan. Her face literally lights up after the first sip and says “this is going to be my drink.” Oh Carrie, you have no idea. Yes. It is most definitely going to be your drink.
6) Maggie and Walt break up
Donna spilled. Surprise surprise. She planned on waiting a bit and holding the information against Maggie, but once she set her eyes on Walt that changed. Donna told Walt about Maggie’s secret police officer, so naturally he broke up with her. This is such a double standard. Maggie may have lied, but Walt is also lying to not only Maggie but to himself.
7) Walt and Donna?
Possibly the biggest WTF moment of the episode. After breaking up with Maggie because of her infidelity, Walt finds comfort in Donna. After being dumped by Sebastian because he likes Carrie (YAY!), Donna looks for another guy to be draped on her arm. Apparently, Donna had always had a crush on Walt, so after she sets the stage for Walt and Maggie’s breakup, she lays a big one on Walt. For his own reasons, Walt needs a girlfriend, so he has no problem accepting Donnas relationship proposition. Should we start feeling bad for Donna now, later, or never?
8) No more city for Carrie
Back home, Carrie and her father talk. The outcome is exactly what you would expect. Carrie is banned from going back to the city, and from continuing her internship at Interview. Carrie tries to explain that her passion is writing and the internship could play a huge role in attaining her goals as a writer in the future. Her father has none of it, and asserts that she is too young to know what she wants. Hold up. While he has every right to be mad that she lied, and every right to ground her, is it really fair to ignore his daughters dreams? She was bright enough to land the internship after all.
9) I want all of Maggie’s sweaters
It seems like Maggie, Dorit, and Carrie all have an endless supply of cute, comfy sweaters. Although I wouldn’t want to be in Maggie’s shoes, I would certainly like to be in her closet. I am in love with this block sweater she wore in this episode. Can I have it please?
10) Sebastian and Carrie
It’s about time. After his failed grand gesture, Sebastian opens up to Carrie. At least neither of them have to hide their feelings any more now. Although her future career looks like it’s come to an abrupt halt, Carrie’s love life looks bright.
