The last time Beyoncé performed live, it wasn’t very live after all. It was later leaked that the R&B superstar’s performance of the American national anthem at President Barrack Obama’s second inauguration was actually a pre-recorded track.
While many people are typical lambasted for lip-syncing, Bey seems to be the only one who can walk away from the said controversy practically scot-free. Many have risen to her defense listing off the many reasons why artists typically choose to lip-sync. Among these reasonings were the cold weather (check), no time for a proper sound check (check) and the delay in program (check).
On Thursday, Beyoncé made it a point to show that she can indeed sing the anthem live, this time at a Super Bowl press conference where she also admitted to lip-syncing at the inauguration. Watch her performance below:
SHE ABSOLUTELY KILLS IT!
If this was just the anthem at a press conference, just imagine how bonkers her half-time performance will be. While many are hoping for a brief on-stage Destiny’s Child reunion, I rooting for a Jay-Z appearance because for me, that’s the only way she can top this “in your face!” showing.
