Disney wasted no time when they announced they would bring Stars Wars back to the big screen after their surprise acquisition of the space adventure franchise. At the time of the news, they hoped Episode VII would arrive at your local theatre as early as 2015.
And boy, are the folks at Disney moving fast as multiple reports are coming in that they have found their post-George Lucas director in none other than J.J. ABRAMS. *Cue Star Wars Fandom joint squeal*
Sources have told The Hollywood Reporter that the Lost producer is currently in late-stage talks with the Mouse-eared studio. Thus far, there is no confirmation from either Disney or Lucasfilm.
The new Star Wars episode will reportedly follow a new set of heroes with possible cameos from the original Luke and Leah Skywalker, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher. If Abrams is set to direct the latest installment, audiences can expect to see a lot of lens flare during space chases. Asides from that, we really won’t know what to look out for considering the director is notoriously secretive, but with Episodes I, II, and III safely behind us, it’s all up from here.
Though before Abrams can start putting his own twist on the series, he must put the final finishing touches on the latest edition of another out-of-this-world franchise, Star Trek into the Darkness, which will be released on May 17, 2013.
