Every once in a while a journalist takes a stand on national TV for something they personally believe in. A while ago we saw Jennifer Livingston take a stand against bullies. Now there’s KHON2′s Jai Cunningham, who shaved his head on live TV to take a bold stand against domestic violence.
He was deeply touched when a friend of his was recently murdered by her husband. Jai knew the victim personally and decided to make a pledge that every time a woman or child dies from domestic abuse he will going to shave his head.
“I hope this is a very visceral and real event for you, because it’s affected me before,” he said. Jai said he will shave his head at least six to eight or maybe more times, as a reminder that domestic abuse is real and happens everyday.
We love that this Hawaiian reporter, who was a victim of domestic violence, has the heart to stand up for something important. Do you think his message was successful?
