While watching these videos, I felt my self-esteem slowly deteriorate into nothingness. I’ll be turning 20 soon, and there are many things that these kids can do that I can’t even dream of. Here are just 10 of the many crazy-talented kids out there.
1. Nolan Gould
You probably recognize Nolan from the television show, “Modern Family.” But after watching this video, I learned that the 14-year-old has already graduated high school and is studying at a college level. Um, when I was 14 I was bopping around my bedroom to various selections of “emo” music.
2. Lennon and Maisy
These young sisters have graced the youtube world with their lovely voices, earning millions of hits. Lennon, 12, and Maisy, 8 have won the hearts of the interwebz with their beautiful covers of songs like “Headlock” by Imogen Heap. The duo will be featured tonight in an episode of Nashville — their pretty voices included!
3. Matty B
This nine-year-old recorded a cover of “Ice Ice Baby” with the legend himself, Vanilla Ice. If that isn’t enough to describe how awesome this kid is, then I don’t know what else is. Matty B is a young rapper from Georgia, who has gotten attention from some pretty big names (Dr. Phil, anyone?) He’s also covered One Direction. Enough said.
4. Talia Castellano
Talia is a 13-year-old who aspires to be a makeup artist. She brings smiles to the youtube world with her vibrant personality and knowledge of the makeup world. Talia’s story is inspiring — though she is fighting two types of cancer, it’s hard to tell when watching her videos. Seeing her passion for makeup always brightens my day.
5. Kaliah King
Ellen called this six-year-old an inspirational speaker… I call her Future President.
6. Tom Schaar
Tom is a 12-year-old skateboarder who did the first-ever 1080 trick. I don’t know what a 1080 is or how in the world this kid accomplished it, but he beat professional skateboarder Shaun White to the punch. He’s cool in my books.
7. Tsung Tsung aka Andy Lee
The passion! The flair! This adorable 5-year-old flies through a complicated piano number, earning him over 1 million hits on youtube. I won’t be surprised if that number grows — his playing is lovely.
8. Sophia Grace and Rosie
Almost everyone knows these cute British darlings for their charm and tricky Q&A’s with celebs. They’re also quite dazzling on stage when covering songs by Nicki Minaj and Adele.
9. Cimorelli
Cimorelli is a band made up of six sisters, each with the voice of an angel. Their ages range from 12 to 21, but each sister provides their own sweet flair to their songs.
10. Honey Boo Boo Child
This list isn’t complete without Alana Thompson, aka Honey Boo Boo. Though the child is primarily known for her sassy beauty queen routines, her talent remains in her outstanding wit. Never has a child made me laugh so hard. (That kind of scares me.)
