In the world of celebrity news, there’s no shortage of hits and misses. This week, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are slated to host the Golden Globes and Aaron Carter thinks Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and the Beast” video looks like “Aaron’s Party.”
HIT: Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to host the Golden Globes
Unlike most celebrities at the Golden Globes, I liked Ricky Gervais and his snarky humour just fine but these two SNL alums can make do the ugly laugh/cry at any moment. Just so we’re clear, this is how I feel about the golden duo hosting the Globes in January: 1) CRYING, 2) ALL THE FEELS, and 3) FOUR FOR YOU GLEN COCO. YOU GO, GLEN COCO. Need I say more?
MISS: Aaron Carter thinks Justin Bieber copied him
On Monday, former teen star Aaron Carter tweeted, “Justin Bieber’s new video reminds me of my video for Aaron’s Party.” Carter must be slightly delusional if he thinks Justin Bieber’s video for “Beauty and the Beat” is a rip-off. If so, he might as well add the likes of Janet Jackson, Katy Perry and any other artist who’s done a house party video. Carter’s not as original as he would like us to believe or else he’d still be famous.
HIT: Megan Fox had her baby weeks ago
Megan Fox gave birth to her son Noah Shannon Green on September 27th which was weeks ago. According to her Facebook page, she wanted to announce the news herself instead of someone leaking it. “…He is healthy, happy, and perfect,” she wrote. “We are humbled to have the opportunity to call ourselves the parents of this beautiful soul and I am forever grateful to God for allowing me to know this kind of boundless, immaculate love.” The obligatory congratulations goes out to the happy couple and their beautiful bundle of joy as well as an additional pat on the back for keeping it a secret for so long. I think that a) people must not really care about Megan Fox anymore if no one is stalking her, or b) she gave birth in the middle of California desert to avoid the paparazzi.
MISS: Flavor Flav arrested for assault with a deadly weapon
Flavor Flav was arrested early Wednesday morning after a heated verbal argument with his fiancé and her son turned violent. According to TMZ, his fiancé dialed 911 after Flav reportedly threated her son with a knife. So far, the rapper has not been released. What time is it, Flav? Jail time. I bet you didn’t have that on your clock.
HIT: ?uestlove to teach classic albums course at NYU
I feel like there’s something grossly wrong when people have no idea who Paul McCartney or Van Halen are (you know which fandom I’m talking about). Thankfully, legendary Roots drummer ?uestlove is willing to share his vast musical knowledge and will be teaching a class on classic albums at New York University. I now kind of want to go back to school just to sit in awe of the mighty afro’d one.
MISS: R. Kelly will be in stuck in the closet forever
In a recent interview with Time Magazine, R. Kelly revealed that he shot another 20 chapters of that weird music video where he’s the other man in a secret affair. “Trapped in the Closet is forever,” said the R&B singer. “I’ve got like a hundred chapters to come.” For his sake, I hope there’s a secret door in the closet that leads to bomb shelter stocked with food. He’d probably take that idea further and escape through that door and magically appear onstage at some big event like the Grammys to preform another 10 installments. After another 10 years of being stuck in the damned closet, he’ll reveal that he was never really in the closet; it was just like in Lost where everyone is actually dead, or something like that. To think of it, I understand Lost just as much as I understand R. Kelly which is not very much.
