There are few words to describe how I felt last night when I heard about the upcoming nuptials of Canadians Avril Lavigne and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger. I hazily remember feeling shocked and even manically excited, which sometimes happens when I’m scared and confused.
Lavigne, 27 and Kroeger, 37 were collaborating in February for her upcoming fifth studio album and told very few people about their relationship. After six months of dating People says he proposed with a 14-karat diamond ring.
Post after-shock, people are finally emerging from the corners of their bathrooms where they locked themselves, crying on the floor. Many took to Twitter with astute comments and questions about the relationship.
Here are some common reactions:
The hypochondriac – “Is it contagious?”
Serious media concerns — “Where were they when we needed them?”
Positive thinking — “They’re doing us a favour.”
Apocalypse — “Honey, prepare the sound proof bomb shelter.”
International relations — “Where does this put Canada on the world stage?”
