What she’s wearing: Lovato was photographed wearing a lace white dress and a spike-studded denim jacket on her way to tape an episode of X-Factor US.
Why we love it: If this outfit is any indication of what type of X-Factor judge Lovato will be, expect the former Disney star to be tough but kind. The small lace details makes this LWD (little white dress) a standout as it draws inspiration from the current lace-crochet trend. Lovato counterbalances the soft sweet dress with with a spiked denim jacket, which will surely scare off her fellow judge Simon Cowell. To style the look, Lovato draws inspiration from retro icon Rosie the Riveter, with her red-polka dot headband and updo while modernizing the look with round white sunglasses.
What she’s wearing: The Glee star wore a vibrant multi-coloured striped Prada dress, paired with Capri sandals and Miu Miu sunglasses at the 2012 Giffoni Film Festival.
Why we love it: The bright colours and the quirky geometric patterns makes this classic babydoll dress an eye-turner. The thick red sunglasses and chunky red sandals complete this look, perfect for a fun day in beautiful Giffoni Valle Piana, Italy.
What she’s wearing: While awaiting the Olympic Torch’s arrival to Buckingham Palace, the Duchess of Cambridge wears an Adidas Official Team GB white polo, cobalt blue jeans from Zara, and navy Corkswoon wedges by Stuart Weitzman.
Why we love it: Usually the words ‘casual’ and ‘royalty’ don’t go together, but Kate proves she can pull off any look with royal ease. Coloured denim has been a trend for a while now, but seeing the future Queen of England rocking a pair of electric blue jeans shows that this trend is here to stay. Perhaps she can convince her husband Prince Will to give coloured denim a try too. The crisp white polo keeps this look simple but most importantly shows her support for Team Great Britain. Navy wedges keep everything in the Team GB colour scheme and also match her sapphire engagement ring. (Don’t pretend you didn’t see it, that thing is massive!).
What he’s wearing: The Hunger Games star was spotted in The Grove in L.A. chatting on his phone and sporting a nautical themed tank, distressed-washed blue jeans, shades, and a Cincinatti Reds hat .
Why we love it: This is the signature guy’s look of Summer 2012. The nautical theme is a classic go-to-style for guys in the warmer seasons, but channelling the nautical theme in a tank top keeps things fresh and modern. Tanks have made a roaring comeback for men’s summer wear, a perfect way to keep cool in the heat, get some colour on your arms, and show off your dedication to the gym. (Not a problem for Peeta, who’s known for having killer arms.) Hutcherson accessorize it with cool shades (a summer must-have) and tops it off with a Cincinatti Reds NFL hat. (Adding a motorcycle helmet to the mix doesn’t hurt the look either!)
What she’s wearing: Bilson wore a sheer sleeveless blouse and loose black dress pants at the 2012 Summer TCA Party in Beverly Hill, California.
Why we love it: While most starlets opted to go for the obvious summer dress, the Heart of Dixie star (but let’s be real, she’ll forever be Summer Roberts in our hearts!) went the menswear-inspired route instead. Menswear tends to be very tailored yet the slouchiness and casualness of the blouse, the pants, the bow, and the hair added a feminine touch to soften out the hard edge usually found in menswear-inspired clothing. The look is very trendy, but not everyone is brave enough to attempt it. Bilson just makes it look easy.
What he’s wearing: The British music producer was spotted wearing a multi-coloured Jil Sander T-shirt, white pants, white lace-ups, and Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses at the Olympic Torch Relay Coca-Cola Concert in Hyde Park, London.
Why we love it: The bright neon colours are a staple for Summer 2012 and the cool geometric print reminds us of a funky version of the UK’s Union Jack flag. Perfect for an Olympic party. Ronson knows the focus is on the shirt so he pairs it with sharp white pants and matching white shoes. It’s a bold move considering there are plenty of opportunities to suffer from a grass stain accident. To top it off Ronson accessorizes his look with Ray-Bans, always a summer must-have, perfect for a party in the park. (The Olympic Torch is not a shabby accessory to have either!)
What she’s wearing: An H&M gold-pleated jersey dress, accessorized with a black belt and a (not-pictured) metallic fuschia flower hair-clip.
Why we love it: The 18 year-old captivated the world and created buzz all over the twitter-verse when she danced her way into our hearts during the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony. It’s hard to stand out in crowd of crazy-dressed performers but Breinburg did just that when she donned an Olympic-gold inspired dress. The pleats add dimension to the dress and the different shades of gold create a mesmerizing geometric pattern. Adding the black belt creates a waist and shows off Breinburg’s dancer figure while the flower hair-clip adds a nice pop of colour. (Breinburg’s awesome natural curly locks hide it out of sight.)
What he’s wearing: The Olympic gold-medalist sprinter is dressed in Jamaica’s Olympic opening ceremony uniform designed by Cedella Marley for Puma.
Why we love it: Because it’s cool. While most countries opted for the sporty look, or traditional cultural outfits, or even drew inspiration from the very appropriate British dapperness, Jamaica wowed the world with their major cool factor. It does help that designer Cedella Marley is the daughter of reggae icon Bob Marley. Besides all that, the “fastest man in the world” knew to highlight his greatest assets by rocking bright yellow pants. Neons are on trend for the summer but most guys tend to shy away from the more electric colours, especially yellow. But pairing the bottoms with the cool black chevron shirt and the hip black military jacket provides much needed balance to the look.
What she’s wearing: The young Disney Channel Star wears a bright aqua coloured beaded sleeveless dress at the 2012 Oceana’s SeaChange Party in Laguna Beach, California.
Why we love it: Aqua is a fun summer colour and appropriate for the charity event that is raising money to protect the world’s oceans. The beaded heart-shaped bodice adds some much needed sparkle and accent colour to the dress, while the ballerina skirt keeps things light and youthful, perfect for the Shake It Up actress. Only a teen can pull off the silhouette of this dress. The loose side ponytail is trendy and casual, an updo would just be too formal.
What she’s wearing: The pint-size stunner is wearing a Z Spoke by Zac Posen print dress at the TCA Summer Press Tour.
Why we love it: The large print is very on trend for summer. While the splashes of that bold red colour make the dress pop, this bright red is one of the exciting colour trends for fall 2012. The overall dark moodiness of the dress is perfect for fall, but the pops of lavender and red keep it summer appropriate. It’s great dress to wear during seasonal transitions.
