Obama once again confirmed what everyone in the entire world knows about Kanye West, he’s a gigantic jackass, but admittedly talented. The comments were revealed in an Atlantic article about West coming back into the spotlight. The writer asked Obama if he favoured West or Jay-Z. The president said he preferred Jay-Z, but he appreciates West’s abilities. “I like Kanye. He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented,” he said. “He is a jackass, but he’s talented.”
This is why the president rocks.
Obama first called out West in 2009, after he ruined Taylor Swift’s moment at the VMAs. Swift won “Best Female Video” but Kanye thought it would be appropriate to announce on stage — in the middle of her speech — that Beyonce deserved it more.
“The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She’s getting her award. What’s he doing up there? He’s a jackass,” Obama said just before an interview.
West apologized profusely and received a beat down on Jay Leno when he was asked if his recently deceased mother would have been proud of his actions. He also attempted to apologize on Twitter: “I’m sorry, Taylor. We’re both artists, and the media and managers are trying to get between us. She deserves the apology more than anyone.”
He even wrote a song for the country singer, though she declined to use it. After, the rapper withdrew from the public for over a year, interning at Fendi and living in Japan.
