A court spokesman has confirmed that rapper Lil Wayne’s jail sentencing has been delayed yet again, reports MSN Entertainment.

The basement of the lower Manhattan courthouse where Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter, was supposed to receive his sentencing caught on fire earlier this morning (March. 2).

Court spokesman David Bookstaver said the sentencing was among the proceedings cancelled due to the fire.

The rap star was supposed to start a one-year jail term today after he pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon back in October. The 27-year-old Wayne admitted to having a loaded gun on his tour bus back in July, 2007. As andPOP previously reported, Wayne was supposed to start his sentence last month but it was postponed due to dental surgery.

Despite his criminal record, Lil Wayne has,  in recent years, become one of rap’s biggest names.
