Sultry Kim Kardashian is used to being the “it” girl; in front paparazzi and television cameras. She has surprised most with her new project: a special on E! called The SPINdustry, that she produced about the world of celebrity PR. Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck of Command PR, two very powerful publicist in the industry are also on deck. People.com chatted with Kardashian, who was busy at Fashion Week in NYC, about her new project and stepping out of the limelight.
“I really liked being behind the scenes,” she told People. “It was very productive and just the fact that I came up with this concept and to see it come to life…I love behind-the-scenes work and I see myself doing that more.”
It isn’t always the best position to be under Kardashian; apparently the 29-year-old socialite can be quite a bossy.
“Kim was a bossy boss!” Cheban said of Kardashian. “She’s demanding, but she does it with that incredible smile, so it’s hard to argue with her!”
Huck, however didn’t seem to mind, “I literally exist for Kim,” he says.
The special is based on an event the team is doing for former Spice Girl, Mel B, yet Kardashian has other stars in mind she’d also like to work with.
“Everyone from Tori Spelling to Mario Lopez,” she said. “There’s so many people I’d love to have on the show!”
Cheban gave some insider scoop on celebs and their behind-the-scenes behaviour. Among all celebs, another former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham, was his favourite.
“Victoria Beckham is a complete professional…not at all what you’d expect!” he told People. “We did one of her first events in NYC and she had everyone on the floor laughing from start to finish. Full comedy! Diddy is the king of events, but will call you at 3 a.m. to ask you a question.”
If you’re hoping to see lots of Kardashian in front of the camera, you may be disappointed. She makes a quick cameo, but spends the majority of her time behind-the-scenes.
“I’m briefly in it,” she said. “If it goes to series, I don’t think that will be the case.”
