Beyonce Ties Lauryn Hill For Grammy Record
The diva of this time has certainly earned her title.
With 10 Grammy nominations, starlet Beyonce has successfully matched the record for most nominations for a female artist in a single year. The other holder of this title is long-time crooner and Fugees Lauryn Hill. In 1999, Hill received 10 Grammy nominations for her solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”
The majority of Beyonce’s nominations stem from the hit album, “I am… Sasha Fierce,” with the exception of her work on the Cadillac Records soundtrack for her portrayal of the Etta James hit, “At Last.” Beyonce also performed this song in Obama’s honor as he was named President of the United States. She played James character in the film, and was celebrated for his dramatic performance.
The singer, and wife of iconic rap artist Jay-Z, will compete with both Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift who have also been nominated for the same three awards.
