I guess we'll never know what this event meant for the success of his album because history can't be undone. Beyond all that, the point of the article is; how could anyone feel he deserves to be included in the top 10 most interesting people of the year (not entertainers, people!)? Adam's first album wasn't released until the day AFTER the AMA performance. I don't know what sort of success you were thinking would have been more than "minor" prior to the release of the album.
