Adam Lambert Does Not Regret Racy Performance
After Adam Lambert’s scandalous performance at the American Music awards on Sunday, fans and critics everywhere were left wondering what the singer would have to say about himself. Apparently, according to Lambert, no apology is needed.
According to people.com, Lambert admitted to Seacrest that he thinks the adrenaline took control over the performance. “I admit and I’m kind of proud of the fact that I did get a little carried away. I had a good time and I was merely interpreting the lyrics of my song. It wasn’t meant to piss anyone off, it wasn’t meant to hurt anyone or cause any problems,” he elaborated on Seacrest’s website.
The network doesn’t seem to agree with Lambert’s laid-back explanation and lack of apology. After he French-kissed a band member and imitated oral sex, AMB has issued statements specifically clarifying that Lambert will not be performing on its morning program. It subsequently cancelled his Good Morning America performance following an onslaught of complaints about their broadcast.
Lambert holds the view that his actions are no different than what females have been simulating onstage for years. “I do think there’s a slight double standard,” he explained. “I’m a sexual person, and maybe people didn’t see that on American Idol,” he says. “But now… they do.”
Lambert has certainly got his message across, and it has left many wondering what the state of his career will be following the performance. He has received a lot of support via Twitter, showing that the majority of his fans are willing to stick with him through thick and thin, stating that the network is merely homophobic and Lambert was not doing anything wrong.
